October 17, 2020
Wow! Hasn’t 2020 been a bizarre year so far? The COVID-19 pandemic has absolutely blindsided us with changes and tragedy on many fronts. And it is not done yet. We sincerely hope you and your loved ones have been and continue to stay safe and healthy. I know we are all hoping and praying for a much more sane 2021!
Speaking of COVID-19, the general situation had started looking somewhat better as of late summer and governmental restrictions were being loosened. Then over the last few weeks, there has been a significant upswing in local, national, and international COVID-19 cases. So for now, all new registrations are suspended until we get closer to the event date. At that time, our local governing authorities will assess the situation and determine if it is safe for us to proceed with the event. We expect to have that confirmation by either December or January at the latest. So we will keep our fingers crossed that things calm down shortly.
In the meantime, those who register will be put on a waitlist at no charge. As spots open, they will be notified to promptly complete their registration.
Some of our Pistol family have asked for a virtual event since they won’t be able to come to the party this year in person. So we are working with UltraSignup to open up those options. We’ll let you know as soon as we have that in place. If you’re already registered and want to switch to a virtual distance then, you should be able to simply select the Edit button on your current UltraSignup registration and change distances. Those official virtual finishers will also receive the same overall finisher’s awards and swag. (Please send us LOTS of caffeine! We will need it to pack and mail all those awards and swag!)
Along with you, we are hoping and planning for the best. However, one thing we have all learned is that COVID-19 does not play fair and can easily make life altering changes, sometimes immediately and without warning. But regardless, we are all in this together and we are determined to make the best of everything, no matter what happens.
Remember, none of us are in control of the current situation, so let us all choose to stay positive. We trust our amazing Pistolers to help keep the negativity at bay while we continue to navigate these unpleasant circumstances together. Social media can easily degrade into a place of complaints and negativity, but we all know that does not help anything or lead to positive outcomes. So let us wisely choose to resist that urge, and instead, stick together, stay positive, and remember, this too shall pass…hopefully very soon!
We know you might still have unanswered questions. We kindly ask that you resist the urge to bombard us with them or post them on social media. We are just as anxious as you, if not more so. As soon as we have more to share, you’ll be the first to know. So stay tuned.
We love y’all! Please stay safe, keep training, and we will hope to see you in March!
